Grateful

June 8, 2015

Dear Drs. Jim, Ashley, and Chris,

Thanks to you, my aches and pains are gone and I have been able to lift, shove, pull, and push as I packed for my move.  I hope and pray that your practice continues to thrive and that you will be healers for those in pain.

Gratefully,

S. Dorothy Lazarick

Salt’s Role in Autoimmune Disease

Autoimmunity is a condition that results when our immune system is overactive.  When this happens, our immune system starts to attack healthy tissue resulting in autoimmune conditions like multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes.

Recently, researches have found a new link to the cause of autoimmune disease which we all have been using every day.  SALT!

One step for those that have been already diagnosed with an autoimmune condition is to limit their salt intake.  Don’t forget that processed foods are also loaded with sodium.  Stick to the outer walls of the food stores to be sure to stick away from processed foods!

Acetaminophen – a poor choice for pain relief.

“Acetaminophen is the most popular pain reliever in the US…a large fraction of users are close to a toxic dose in the ordinary course of use…researchers have found “high quality evidence” that paracetamol (acetaminophen) does not reduce pain intensity or disability, and does not improve quality of life, in the short term for people experiencing low back pain; and provides only “minimal, short term benefit” for people suffering from hip or knee pain caused by OA, stating that “the small effects are not likely to be meaningful for clinicians or patients.”

Are you still drinking soda?

If you are, this article may make you think twice before you take another sip of soda!  Soda is devoid of any nutrients, you are basically drinking fake sugar water.  Some of the bad side effects of drinking too much soda are memory loss, dramatic increase of fat build up leading to diabetes and/or obesity, accelerated aging and increased risk of cancer.

There are plenty of healthier alternatives to soda.  Try drinking seltzer water instead.  You can even add some fruit to it, like strawberries or blueberries, for that extra natural sugar you are craving.
