K-Laser

The central nervous system controls every action in the human body. For the heart to beat, arms to move, cuts to heal, messages are sent from the brain to the target area (cell, organ, muscle, etc.) via the nerves. The spinal column acts to protect the CNS, and where two vertebrae there is a foramen (hole) for the nerve to exit the spinal column.  At this forman rests the spinal nerve root housing numerous receptors that tell the body how to react to various environmental stimuli. Neuropathy occurs when nerve pathways are damaged as a result of a pathological condition or prolonged compression at the spinal nerve root (i.e. diabetes, spinal stenosis, sciatica, etc.). Damaged nerves send improper neurological signals back to the brain. These improper signals usually present themselves to a person as numbness, burning, tingling, or sharp pain felt in the hands, arms, legs, and feet.

Nerve cells do not have an external blood supply; the blood vessels are located in the nerves themselves. When a nerve becomes damaged, it actually prevents its own nutrient and oxygen supply leading to nerve atrophy and retraction (nerve death). As this occurs, nerve cells shrink making it harder for proper transmission of neurological messages (numbness, tingling, burning, sharp pain, etc.).

The K-Laser works by increasing energy via bio-photostimulation (body-light “speeding up”) within injured cells to jump start the healing process or body’s natural inflammatory cascade. Photoreceptors on cells act as solar panels to collect and store energy (ATP). This “stored” energy is then transferred to the mitochondria, or “powerhouse” of the cell, to activate/speed up the healing process of the injured tissues.

The K-Laser also has a bio-thermal effect on blood vessels that can be felt as the warm “glow” during treatment. The radiant, infared energy (why the K-Laser is not a COLD laser!) penetrates the walls of the superficial blood vessels to:

  • improve elasticity and function of vessels
  • improve nerve function with improved supply
  • improve oxygenation of nerves
  • improves damaged nerves to improve conduction of proper neurological messages
